He said the consistancies are very similar, but he would recommed mtf in this situation. And he said gear oil would starve 5th gear so badly that you tranny probably wouldn’t last 10,000 miles. Sorry for the errand comment.:rolleyes

One good oil is the Mobil Delvac 1300. I have been using it in my VTX 1800 for years and it performs very well. It is also much less $$$ than the Honda oil and exceeds their spec recommendations.
